Adopting a cat from a stranger on Facebook?
There is a large private market for the provision of cats (kittens included). This applies to both free rehoming and outright buying and selling. The internet is “flooded” with advertisements and solicitations for both dogs and cats. This market is in principle unregulated in that the item (i.e. the cat) is in many cases transferred and taken over “as is”.
In the vast majority of cases, we hope and believe that a new owner will be happy to bring a cat into their home, but we recommend that this preferably happens through organizations that have documented experience with this.
